- Results from chronic appendiceal obstruction.
- May be caused by either benign or malignant leisons
- Mucinous neoplasms (mucinous cystadenoma or mucinous cystadenocarcinoma)
- Appendiceal carcinoid
- Complication: Rupture which may lead to pseudomyxoma peritonei.
