The Mark Morton Sign is a derivitive of the Throckmorton's sign. The Throckmorton's sign is a commonly used term in radiology and is positive when the shadow of the penis on pelvic plain films points to the side of the body that the abnormal finding lies. For instance, if there is left hip degenerative joint disease and the penis shadow points to the left, then there is a positive Throckmorton's sign.

A Mark Morton Sign is a variant of the Throckmorton's sign. It is when the size of the Throckmorton's sign is half the size or smaller than a normal ThrockMorton Sign. It is a commonly used term in the Radiology world of Hampton Roads, Virginia, but is quickly spreading to the rest of the United States.
